Bellingham students call a walkout and strike for November 2

Two students filmed outside the Bellingham Public Schools district office ask classmates to walk out and strike on Monday, Nov. 2 at noon and to sign up online. The student-run account describes itself as united student action against district corruption; Nov. 2 is also the date of a district hearing on closing Columbia Elementary.

“WE WANT CHANGE! Bellingham students show your support for your community by walking out and going on strike with us”

The pulse: back-to-school week on tiktok

We read 107 school posts from Aug. 14 to Aug. 30. 62 were students talking about their own school. Most were venting, not organizing, so we count them here instead of listing anyone by name. This is what they were venting about.

In April of last school year, it was announced that the color black was completely cut out of the uniform options starting in the fall of 2026. It has now been a couple months since the school year started, and it’s safe to say people are still unhappy. Since the decision, there have been numerous

Mind the cap

A 23-tab limit introduced by administration aims to speed up Chromebook speeds and boost student focus; however, not everyone agrees on whether the change is a positive one.

Staff Editorial: Speak up, say bye to bystanders

*This editorial contains themes of assault and violence. As the sound of the bell cuts through Coppell High School, the entourage of passing students suffocates the hallways. “Bro, why are you wearing that?” “Well, I-” “It makes you look gay.” “Chill, I’m not with them, bro.” Focusing on the individual conversations and activities between students

How this index is made

Board meeting records come from OurSchoolBoard, which reads published agendas and minutes from districts nationwide. Social posts are found by searching TikTok and Instagram, then read by hand: we list a post when it names a school, district or state and shows someone doing something about it. Venting from students who never asked to be quoted stays anonymous.
